Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, President of Dhaka University (DU) Teachers' Association, explained his statement in a discussion meeting on the occasion of historic Mujibnagar Day about Bangabandhu and four national leaders.

He said, "If I have unknowingly uttered a word/sentence in my speech, it is my unintentional mistake. For this, I personally express regret and apologize."

He made the remarks at a press conference at the Dhaka University Club Room on Monday (April 18) morning.

During a discussion organized by Dhaka University at the TSC auditorium on the occasion of the historic Mujibnagar Day on Sunday (April 18), it was alleged that Professor Dr Rahmat Ullah paid tribute to Bangabandhu's murderer Khandaker Mostaq Ahmad.

In a written statement at the press conference, Dr Rahmat Ullah said, "During the discussion, I mentioned who was in charge of which ministry in the Mujibnagar government and I pay my respects to the Mujibnagar government. At one point in my speech, I expressed my personal hatred and resentment towards the culprit in charge of the Foreign Ministry of Mujibnagar government and Khandaker Mostaq Ahmad, the murderer of Bangabandhu who betrayed the nation during and after the war of liberation."

He lamented that if I had unknowingly uttered a word /sentence while addressing a discussion meeting yesterday, it would have been my unintentional mistake. I apologized for that. At the same time, I request all the bearers of the spirit of the Liberation War and the followers of Bangabandhu's ideology to be aware of the fact that there should not be any misunderstanding among the pro-liberation forces regarding this incident.

He further said, "Personally and family, I have been working in the interest of the country and the nation from the spirit of the great liberation war of Bangladesh and the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman."
